View of the Syria Mosque from Bigelow Blvd. in 1963. The Syria Mosque featured an eclectic Arabian-influenced design and a 3,600 seat auditorium. Many of the most famous musicians of the 20th century performed on this spot, including Miles Davis, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, and Pink Floyd. In 1949, the first network television show was broadcast by KDKA-TV from the Syria Mosque. The Syria Mosque was constructed in 1912 and demolished in 1991.
